Utah trip

With Erin's official engagement we headed into Utah for a dress. The trip was fast and furious. Our goal was to get a dress and maybe some items for the reception. I was pretty nervous taking the kids with me because we couldn't go as fast. But everyone knew that before the trip and was very patient and helpful.

It was Miles first road trip and it was a big one. We were in the truck most the time and he was in his car seat majority of the time (between driving and shopping). I was very impressed with how well he handled it.

Brielle was excited to go on a "road trip" with Oma and Erin. However we hit the salt flats and she asked to go home. She would say,"No more road trip."

Our first stop was Alyssa's Bridal (that's where I bought my dress). They have a lot of options and most the time one you can walk out of the store with. We were on the outer city limits of Salt Lake City when we came to a dead stop. At first we were thinking it was heavy traffic due to traffice hour but we later learned they had closed I-80 do to a semi-truck accident. It took us FOREVER to get anywhere and as a result we missed our opportunity to go to Alyssa's in American Folk (because we had dinner arrangement's with Julie, Lance and Alexander at her parents house).

We had a lovely dinner with the Emery's and Monson's. Julie's parent's (Monson's) are always so kind to let us stay with them. We had a BBQ outside and enjoyed the nice company and beautiful weather. It allowed Brielle to run around with the Emery's dog and all of us to stretch our legs and unload.

After we had dinner, we decided to try Orem's Alyssa's Bridal. So we packed up the kids and headed out. When we arrived they had Erin register and then dress time. The lady helping Erin was super nice and made Erin feel very special.

Right outside their store was a water feature that Brielle loved and wanted Oma to take her to it all the time. This created a little challenge because she needed to be there for Erin. Erin was very kind and patient and we made it work.

Erin tried on a few dresses. It was chaotic for me because I was trying to video record and take pictures and watch the kids. After a few dresses, Erin found her dress! She put it on and fell in LOVE with it! It was super cute because while she was on the stage these teenage girls walked by and said, "I love that dress on you. WOW your husband is going to drop his jaw!" I think that helped seal the deal.

We stayed until closing. Erin had made other appointments with other bridal shops for the next day so Alyssa's put the dress on hold and we headed home.

Leaving Orem, the Crispy Kreme store had their HOT sign on. We of course had to stop and pick up some donuts. Once we opened the box Brielle shouted out, "MMM DONUTS!" They sure were yummy, and melted in our mouths. We made sure we had a few left for breakfast the next morning.

Registering

He survived the first day, I am sure he was wondering when he will get out of his car seat.

The dress!

Brielle was DONE by this point. She was such a good girl.

I decided to keep Miles in bed with me and Brielle in the cosleeper. She had a different idea. Getting her to sleep was a little tough and she asked if she could sleep with Erin. I let her fall asleep with Erin and then I put her in her cosleeper.

They way she was sleeping made me laugh.

The next day we made it just in time for the 11 o'clock appointment. There we found Brielle's dress and Erin tried on a few. She found one she fell in love with because it had everything she wanted. However the cost was WAY too much and she still needed it to be altered. The decision making was getting too overwhelming. So she walked out of the store and decided to be done with the dress hunt.

We were going to eat lunch but the kiddos fell asleep. We decided to drive to Provo, pay for the dress and then have lunch.

The dress that had everything.

Thank goodness for my phone. The kids were coming down with a cold or something. They were a little cranky but we made it through. It was the most stressful time of the whole trip. So glad it was over.

We were going to buy this dress but found a different one we liked. It had some flaws so the seamstress happen to be there and fixed them for us.

The dress she has decided to get!
Brielle was done with the whole process
On our way out of town we stopped at the Emery's to pick up some presents they had for the kids. Brielle got a doll that she LOVES! Thank you Julie for the Halloween shirts, doll, and photo album.

On our way home Miles was getting a little fussy so Mom pulled him out for a little to calm him down.

We were super excited to be home and we so happy we accomplished our mission. The next big push.....the air races the next morning.
