Today I am 4 months old!

This was the first time she really played in the snow. It wasn't for very long because we were on the top of Mt. Rose Summit and it was cold and windy. I wasn't a very nice mom and had woke her up to play.

I guess cannot wait until Brielle is moving around. Here he is showing her how to push up on her arms. As you can see she watched everything we do very closely.
Then he thought he needed to show her how it was done.

Matt was home for lunch and playing with her.

I like this facial expression.

She stands really well on her own (against a couch); better than she sits by herself.

Aunt Erin took her for a walk and took this picture. Brielle loves going on walks in her stoller.

Blowing her bubbles for entertainement. When she gets really excited she spits out A LOT of bubbles and soaks her shirt.

Erin tried to take a picture of her holdin her own bottle. I never see it because when I am around she doesn't use a bottle.

Erin loves Saturdays because its her day to babysit Brielle while Matt and I are at work.
Brielle is growing up very fast. Somenew things she has done:
-put her feet flat on the floor and lift her butt up. She also does this when she is placed in her car seat.
-sits up on her own for a couple of seconds.
-STAND, STAND and more STANDING. I have a hard time getting her to sit down.
-suck on skin, either her own or someone elses. It doesn't matter if it's a finger or neck or arm.
-play with the mirror that is attached to her play mat and look at herself.

FIRE!

So today was an exciting day. First time in history my Grandpa's field caught on fire (and no it was not a controlled burn). I was at my parents house when the door bell rang. When I went to answer it no one was there. I thought we were being door bell ditched but then heard some noise. I found Justin (a guy working on the extension of the house) saying, "never mind I found the hose." I didn't know what he meant until I looked up a little and saw the fire. I turned on the water and then tried to help put out the fire. We discovered the hose wasn't long enough so I ran to the back of the house and grabbed some more hose. By the time I made it back to the the field the fire had really spread. I decided to call the fire department. I was really surprised how many people showed up: News channel 2, spectators, Sparks P.D. and both Reno and Sparks fire trucks. The news anchor beat everyone there and then the cop showed, and the fire trucks took forever. By the time they got there the fire was out and it was just smoldering. Thank goodness Maryanne Mooney (the neighbor) pulled out her hose and stopped the fire from spreading south; she also saved the two trucks that were parked. Before the firemen left I asked if Brielle could take some pictures with them. They told me the cutest firemen needed to take the picture. Brielle did great even though she was starving. Below are the pictures of the excitement.
The firetruck just showed up

The fire was started by Maynard's lawnmower.

Everyone is working on getting the fire out

If you look close you can still see the smoke behind Erin and Brielle

The firemen just pulled out their shovels not their hoses
The final result: approx 2500ft was burned

HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY!

HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY

Brielle is all decked out in her green outfit. People loved it.
People said she looked like a little leprechaun (we had tights with green shoes on at one point in time)

She loves playing with her clothes

We had a busy day today. I had a couple of doctor appointments to go to today. Brielle got to tag along and was a trooper. My morning appointment I heard Brielle going to the bathroom. I was afraid she had a blow out so I waited till we go home. Sure enough it was all up her back. I managed to get the onesie off without spreading the poop too much. I laid Brielle on her side to wipe off her back off and next thing I know she put her head on the poppy onesie. Poor girl had poop all over. Today was the first time she was really helpful when changing her. She loves to stand now so I had her standing up while I made sure she was all clean.

We are day 3 into sleeping in her room. Last night went a lot smoother. I think it helped that Matt and I played with her in her room throughout the day. Having her become more familiar with the room helped (I think). We are getting a bedtime routine down. She is normally ready for bed around the 8 to 9 o'clock hour. I am snuggling her with a blanket still which helps her know its time for bed.

We are also working on nap time in the crib. Brielle prefers to nap in our arms. I love holding her and wish I could hold her all the time. However she needs to get use to the idea of napping by herself. Sometimes she does well with it and other times she does not. The morning nap tends to work but the afternoon nap....forget!

We love when Uncle Brian comes to town

My Brother came to town this weekend. His latest hobby has been photography. He has a fancy camera and has all the latest and greatest gadgets for it. Therefore, the quality of his pictures surpasses the camera we have. These latest pictures are of her Saturday and Sunday at 3 months and 1 week old. Thanks Grandma Taylor for the jacket and hat! Brielle has offically found her thumb and sucks/chews on it. She also discovered her tongue and willstick it out.

WHAT I CAN DO AT 3 MONTHS

I can't believe my little girl is 3 months old already. How quickly time flies. She has changed so much from the time she was born. I feel I am adjusting better every day (In fact I can stay home and I am OK with it) and love being a mom. She has brought so much joy into our lives. I love watching her fall asleep because as she drifts away she will grin. I love when she first wakes up and gives me such a big grin. I love how she looks at me when she is eating. I love how special she makes me feel. I love how she will laugh with me. I love bath time.

Things she can do:
  • Laugh out load
  • Talk a lot

  • Smile all the time (more and more everyday)

  • Be dramatic. Sometimes if she is too tired and she doesn't like a sound or people playing with her, she will look right at them, get this big frown, pause for a couple of seconds and then start to cry. She turns it into such a process. It's funny to watch
  • Another time she cries is in her sleep. She has done this from the time she was born but her cry is louder and lasts longer. If you were in another room you would think she was awake and upset, but when you check on her she is still fast asleep.
  • Better hand motor skills. She is grabbing onto all her toys. Her favorite thing is to lay down on her back so she can kick and play with her toys that are hanging above her. She will hold onto them, bat at them, and with one of her toys she will pull on the string to make it shake.

  • She loves to look at herself in a mirror
  • Everything she has in her hands she tries to put in her mouth
  • She likes to fall asleep with a pacifier. When she first gets it she sucks on it so aggressively. But we are in trouble when it falls out and I am not there to put it back in.

  • She loves to rub her feet together when she is being held or feeding
  • She enjoys looking at books and being read to
  • Some days she would prefer to sit rather than be held. In fact she has held herself up for about 10 seconds on her own.
  • She will do tummy time without crying right away. Sometime she likes to just lay on her tummy and suck on her hand.

  • She likes to listen to music and be sung to. She loves when her cousins sing to her, she laughs every time.
  • Matt said she held her own bottle this week (for a little bit).
  • She wont really take a nap unless she is held, but will sleep through the night just fine alone.
  • She loves to watch the TV or look at the bright screen on a cell phone
  • When she is swaddled and laying in her co-sleeper or crib she lifts both legs up as high as they will go and slam them down. She hates being swaddled but it's the only way I can keep her warm enough at night. In the morning, I will unwrap her from her blankets and she loves to strech.
