Taylor Family Reunion at Tahoe

We had a Merlin Taylor family reunion up at Lake Tahoe this year. Julie found the cabin and Matt helped with the planning. Our hopes were to reunite the family, create memories, and have a good time. We felt if we assigned meals (some were even themed dinners) and planned some activities we would enjoy our weekend. We had a WONDERFUL weekend I am so glad we did it. The cabin was a little warm so we had to keep the windows open and our neighbors didn't get home till late and stayed up drinking and partying all night long. They were so loud Saturday night, they woke up Brielle. That was our biggest complaint.

Lisa making breakfast and Matt pitching in to help.

Brielle playing with Bryson.

Brielle was sitting there playing with her cousin when....

Mariah had a better plan and kicked Brielle in the face. She didn't cry but she looked at me with a stunned face like "What just happen to me?"

Her cousins couldn't get enough of her. Poor girl didn't know what personal space was all weekend long.

The entrance to our private beach. You had to have a key in order to enter. It was pretty rocky but there weren't a lot of people there.

There were umbrellas that were provided with chairs, bathrooms, and volleyball area.

Brielle was excited to be out in the sun with both Mommy and Daddy

Brielle was so she fell asleep on Matt during our walk. Needless to say he didn't mind.

Not sure who started to mud fight but they had fun

We had sand in every nook and cranny. Bath time for everyone (Brittany, Mariah and Megan Rushing)
Saturday night we had a luau dinner. Everyone pitched in to help get dinner ready. We had a good time listening to Hawaiian music and eating Hawaiian haystacks with pina colada drinks. Afterward we enjoyed our beautiful backyard in Tahoe

Grandpa watched Brielle as we tried to move all the furniture from inside the cabin to the backyard. We had to eat outside because our cabin didn't have a air conditioner and it was really warm inside.

Dallin was helping set up the decorations too

I love this photo of Matt's parents ( I had to sneak up on them in order to get any photo of them. They didn't even know I was taking a picture)

Lacey and Mariah loved playing in the dirt.

Brookie absolutely loves and adores Breille.

Brielle and I jump roping.
After the sun started to set we found ourselves together in the family room playing and talking. Grandpa and Grandma were doting on their grandkids and the cousins were loving being together.
I must say Lisa has her hands full with a newborn, 1 and 2 year old. She takes it in strides.

Brielle and Brett were being so cute together. They loved kissing each other and hugging each other.

Grandpa sure was having fun
Saturday night was a real milestone for Brielle and a very exciting one for her parents. She started to crawl and pull herself up on furniture and I couldn't get enough of it. She isn't even 8 months old yet and my house is far from being baby proofed.

The kids brought out twister but some of the adults found themselves playing. We desiginated Grandpa Taylor to be the spinner which was a mistake (He cheated like he normally does and made sure it would spin the the color and body part he wanted-he was tryig to get us real twisted up) I haven't played for so long, it was fun.

Meanwhile Matt sat with Brielle as she took a 3.5 hr nap.

After Twister Julie decided to get the water ballons ready so we can play water volleyball

We tried to have fun and involve all the kids but we discovered it wasn't a very good activity for the kids. They are still too little and it wasn't a very successful activity- but everyone remained in good spirits.

The weather remianed nice in the evenings so we set everything up in the backyard for dinners. For the formal dinner, the grandkids were our servers and the meal was sure delicious.

Sunday night we had a fireside and asked Roger Mooney to come up and share his fireman 'armour of God' fireside with us. I felt it went really well and I was so grateful for Roger to take the time to come up to Tahoe.

Look at the face expression and look at the next one below
(Lacey, Megan and Mariah)

Roger turned on his alarm that alerts others that he is not moving and other firemen need to stop what they are doing and rescue him. Some of the kids FREAKED OUT!

Brielle on the other hand thought it was funny.

Paul and I got up Monday morning and took advantage of the tennis courts. The weather was beautiful and it was fun to play a few rounds

We headed to Tahoe City to see the trout. We weren't very successful. When we first showed up we didn't see anything but we went and bought food which helped bring out a few trout. We still had a good time being together.

Can you see any??

Rachelle with her daughter Tiffany

We didn't see fish but we still were hopeful and bought the food

Finally fish. Everyone on the bridge was throwing food

The cabin we rented had beautiful tennis courts, open grassy area, playgound, beach volleyball and a swimming pool with a divingboard and lifegaurds. It was so nice to go cool down.

Danielle diving-what form!

I had to bribe some of the neices and nephews to go off the diving board. Here is Tyler jumping and Danielle catching.

Brielle had so much fun she wore herself out and fell asleep on Dad. Matt loved the weekend becuase she was so cuddly and loving on him.

Julie, Shawna, Brielle, Dallin, Taylor, Lilly

The best part of the trip was the time we were able to spend together as a family and the memories that were created. Merlin's health wasn't the best but he tried to particiapte when he felt ok. I captured as many moments I could when he was around.

Grandma Taylor planned a savenger hunt for the grandkids. She had clues hidden all througout the cabin. The reward was a box in the garage. The kids had fun figuring out the clues and opening up the box. Inside contained a present for each kid.

Here they are searching for one of the first clues

I love Tyler's reaction when the box begins to open- he is so excited.

This expression wraps up how all the kids felt when they all had a hidden treasure.

We ended our time together with a family talent show. Every family was encouraged to particiapate. The grandkids did a great job entertaining, and grandma and grandpa Taylor amazed everyone with their black magic trick (the kids couldn't figure out how grandma wasn't even in the room when they picked an item and she could say what it was the kids picked.) Everyone let there hair down and had a good time, laughing and singing, hooting and hallering.
bobble heads- Brielle normally bobbles her head and dances to music but not that night. She was going to show off.
Lilly Taylor didn't want to share her talent she became too shy.

Everyone had a good time watchng people on the "stage." Here is Breille with her cousin Lilly.
Some of the kids really got into it. Brittany Rushing loved to GET DOWN!
