Hot August Night

Brielle and I came home from Idaho and hit the ground playing in Reno. This years Hot August Nights (HAN) was fantastic mainly because my grandpa Hicks 1948 Plymouth was finally restored and running. This old car was bought brand new by my Grandpa's dad and has stayed in the family ever since. In fact, my dad drove it in High School. We went cruising as often as we could. The first cruise was with the whole family and we laughed the whole time because people didn't make many comments about the car, they were about the baby. I have to say Brielle stole the show. Depending on what side the crowd was on we would have her drive. That was a hoot. Brielle thoroughly enjoying being out of her car seat and center attention. After the first round of cruising we went back and picked up Grandpa Hicks and Dad picked up the corvette. We went cruising Downtown and at the Peppermill. By the end of the night we were all tired and ready for bed.

Brielle had to sit in the back while we were driving the main roads.

But once we started cruising she was with us.

I wonder what she is thinking as she was sticking her head out of the window.

We wore Brielle out.
The next day was the poker run. It's an event that HAN puts on for those that want to participate in it. There are designated places you stop to get a new card for your poker hand and the best hand wins something like $5000. You go to places in Sparks, Reno, Minden, Lake Tahoe and it ended at the Legends in Sparks. We of course didn't want to miss the opportunity to play in the car more. Mom and Dad went in the Corvette and Erin, Grandpa Hicks, Matt, Brielle and I went in Matilda. However that day it started to rain and hail. No good for old cars (like Matilda that didn't have windshield wipers, or for expensive paint jobs). Luckily it didn't rain that much but it looked threatening all day. We didn't take Matilda up to Tahoe but sent my parents up with the corvette and our poker hand. I am so glad we did because it was SNOWING at Tahoe. Yes snow in August. Crazy!

Before we hit Minden everyone in the back seat fell asleep

Who says it's Hot in August? Everyone had jackets on.

Grandpa Hicks enjoyed his ribs!

It is fun to watch and listen to people talk about Matilda.

That night we meet up with Matt's parents and sister Julie with her daughter Brookie, and a friend Vern. We had dinner and went cruising. The car was stuffed full but we had a good time together.
